MEDIA INFLUENCE ON SPORTS

The first reporter tackle the issue on media influence on sport. According to him media influence on sports is that there are existing cycle that leads one to the understanding of media influence on sports. One can see that when the components works well it the most affected or the most influence is nothing else but human person particularly the children who are so engrossed with it. Furthermore, the influence lies accordingly to those who supported certain commercial that media endorse using the sports. in reality one can see that the most of the endorsers are athlete who are well know or famous. the reason behind is that it will attract a lot of costumer or consumer that will use the items that they are endorsing.

MEDIA VIOLENCE

The report is mainly on the voilence existing in the media industry that gradually affects the viewer. The effects are as follows immediate and long term. in this regard one is reminded that indeed violence is not only in reality but also in the media that one used to adhere. This is be seen in the cartoon networks where in it seems that such network promoting violence in the mind of the children for it is very explicit the way they provided movies or kinds of segment to the viewers particularly to the children. This, however, will impels us to think that it should not be patronized by the viewers particularly the children thus one’s task is to remind one’s children or siblings to be critical or be aware of the film or the show that is not gtood for the children. in doing so one is trying to tell the producer that what he is showing is not good to patronized.

PRIVACY AND PIRACY

It is a reminder that one’s privacy is important and so one should be aware of the illegal means in the media particularly in our identity for there is a possibility that one’s identity is being use by others. Consequently, there is a way in order for us to not to be evaded by marketer through opt-in for it is the way of asking permission with the author or the owner before using one’s identity or asking for a consent.

Mass Media and the Clergy

The Pope in his message for the 44^th world communication day reiterate that the priest and the religious clergy should try to deal with the advancement of modern means I order for them to catch the attention of the young people of today. It is because of the fact that young generation of today are so in touch with these modern means and the task of the priest today is to get the attention of the people through media particularly the youth of today who are the most affected by these modern means.

This leads me however, to the realizations of the proper use of mass media and my responsibility to my fellow brethren. Here in the seminary we are given an opportunity to enrich our capacity on mass media or to be more literate in using the means of communications. Being literate means using the media in one’s advantages. I addition being literate is sharing one’s knowledge to one’s brethren. So in that way people will be facilitated in using these modern means and avoid the tendency of automaticity that leads us to be more inhuman.

THE IMPORTANCE OF REAL-WORLD KNOWLEDGE CONCERNING MEDIA

The report on this is all about knowing what is media all about and knowing the importance of real-world. it is because by understanding such world namely media nad real world one will be aware of the distinction of the two world and eventually will not be mislead and control by media messages.

In addition, by knowing the difference between the real-world and media world one will not be able to fall into automaticity that media impart to us.

Consequently, in this report one is being reminded that knowledge about media will depeen our understanding of what is more important in this kind of life.

PERSONAL STRATEGY FOR INCREASING MEDIA

Wider exposure to mass media will enables us to understand well the media messages. However, as we expose ourselves to the mass media one needs to have personal strategy in order for him not to be fall into the trap of mass media.

HELPING OTHERS INCREASE THEIR MEDIA LITERACY

In this report the student try to explain well his discussion on the others which is non other than the children who are expose to the mass media. the reporter urges us to share our knowledge regarding media literacy so that our mission in life which is to propagate the world of God may be fulfill. According to the reporter the best mediation in order to help children in their way of relating with the mass media is the active mediation where in the media literate or the parents are the one explaining what is the meaning of the messages. It is also a good mediation for it is an effective way on proper awareness on mass media.

Economic Perspective on media literacy
Economic perspective is all about the money that is involve in media. Indeed, there are a lot of ways in media gain money from the audience. One of the vehicles where media uses to gain or to profit from the people is the advertisement. It fuels to sustain the product and be more alluring to the people. However, the challenge for us is to know and be aware how these things functions so that we will not be engulfed by the mass media and not be captured by the automatically that they would like to impart to us.
Who Own and Controls the Mass Media?
In this report, the reporter was not able to discuss well the essence of his topic. However, what he would want to tell us is that the one that controls the mass media is the one who has a bigger share in the organization.
What is an Audience?
Simply it is a niche of people with special interest in mass media. Consequently, each of us is member of different kind of niche audience. The good thing in this report is that by knowing that each one of us is a member of different kind of audience we will be aware that we are the target of media because of the fact that they are the active agent and we are the one responding to their demand not the other way around. Thus by knowing all of this we will be able to see that indeed mass media try to deceive so much so that we will be fall to automatic mode and eventually be influence by them to buy or to avail the products that they are promoting.

Broadening Our Perspective on Media Effect
In this report, we are being reminded to be cautious enough in dealing with media vehicles or means, so much so that in one way or another we are broadening our perspective. However, if we can see media aid us to make our works or jobs easily, but then again we should look at the effect of it to us and to the members of our family especially to the children. It reminds then that we should be more sensitive in allowing our children or our siblings in using the means of communications for the reason that it has an effect to them and that would be discussed in the next report.
How does the effects process works?
It is all about the effect of the messages that the human person gain through mass media. According to the reporter the most expose to mass media are the adults but because they are already aware of what is good and what is right they are not really affected by it. Nevertheless, the most affected one are the children though they are not so expose to the means of mass media they are so fragile.
Effects to Institutions
The reporter again did a bad report and so my understanding about his report is not good but then again what he would like to impart to us is that mass media affects many institutions.

The report on advertisement is a very nice report for it was more or less delivered well by the reporter. He tried to follow the indications and explain well his topic on us. Thus, I have learned something from his report unlike to the next reporter who really make bad report and made a mess in the class. However, when he reported to us the understanding that I gained from him is that we are all duty bound of what we do in our life, therefore, he says that we should always decide on what is good and avoid what is wrong for we are the one responsible for it.

On the Development of the mass media, I could say that the reporter made a very complicated slides and so he end up doing mess in the class. I cannot understand what he was trying to figure out in his report because I cannot read the text on his slides presentation. In addition, I cannot understand the way he delivered his report because it seems that it is not systematic, he just say something which is not necessary in his report. Unfortunately, I did not learn something from him instead he makes my head ache.

Advertisements specifically shown on television have been a major influence on viewers’ opinion and preference. It became a powerful tool for products and even for people like the politicians who wants to reach out to the public. Television commercials are made simple yet it leaves an enormous mark on peoples mind. Take the example of a commonly used product like Colgate or Pampers, a customer would go to a store and ask for “Colgate na Close Up”. It is simply because advertisement manipulates human understanding that caused them to the erroneous comprehension of the things around them. And so upon reading the article I realized that as a consumer we should be more aware and attentive to the advertisement so that it will not manipulate, deceive, and not make us more dependent on the products which are not necessary in our day to day living. It also reminds us to be critical so that we will not be easily convinced by the advertisement for we are all duty bound of the things that we do in our life.

100 years of cinema

Today’s famous and fad among the youth is the cinema, as we can see every time that there are new movies that are shown to the public it is easily accepted and embraced by the people particularly the youth and the children. It is for the reason that it is so appealing to the eyes of the viewers and it awakens once emotions in such movies presented to us and we cannot but affected by it in some way.

However, the article “Pontifical council for communications 100 years of cinema Training in the interpretation of the motion picture medium” reminds us that movies should be look at in a manner by which one should get something from it which is good. In such away, the viewer particularly the youth will be aware of the reality which is being shadowed by the movies that we see. Consequently, the church has its big role and the parents too to educate their children in this kind of advancements so that their children and the youth might not be misled and eventually see the beauty and wisdom behind these technological advancements. Accordingly, it is indispensable, therefore, that serious effort be made to educate in the correct understanding of the mass media, and in our particular case, of cinema. In other words parents and the church should goes hand and hand in order to guide the youth in the proper use of mass media for there are tendencies that are not good for them. It also reminds us that as the youth get information through mass media in particular the cinema proper guide should be given and proper interpretation of the context of the cinema should be given to them so that they might not fall to the imaginative mode which is very dangerous for it can create something that is not good or it can harm to that mentality of the youth.

In the end cinema should be seen not only for entertainment but also should be look at in away that one can get good values so that one should learn and gradually apply it in their lives.

Entertainment Content

The first report is about entertainment content. According to the reporter it is design to attract and hold attention to the audience. However, by looking at the content of the entertainment we will learn to analyze identify the plot so that it will not be influenced the way we think and interact with other s in the real world. It also helps us to be more informed so as to communicate will to other people.

But then again it is a reminder for us to be more conscious enough when we deal with the entertainment so that we will not be lead in automatic mode which is the very basic impetus of mass media.

News

The second report is about the news and on how this news makes, affect and inform people. According to the reporter news is triggered by the actual events and transmitted to us by the news men and women. The reporter said that there are things to consider in the news namely Fabrication, Bias, partiality and the context. These things which we consider in looking at the news is a reminder that news does not contain everything that we wanted to know that is why it encourages us to research by ourselves so us not to fall to the myopic way of looking at the reality of the event. Once again it reminds us to be conscious enough and critical in looking at the news so as not to be misled and not turn to be myopic.

The first reporter speaks about the Developing Media Literacy. According to the reporter our understanding and development on media started when we were still young. Since we are Media babies, our understanding and emotions are, in some way, shaped by it.Consequently, mass media awaken different feelings, that eventually lead us to malpractice or abuse. It is because we did not pay much attention on the matter that is very important to us, which is the proper development on mass media. However, our morality is not innate, but rather, acquired to the environment where we live. So, our development on media is basically coming from our families and to those persons who influence us. In the end, he says that, since we are media babies and live in the world where machineries are dominating among us, we should learn and develop well our understanding on the effects and necessity of mass media so much so that, we will not be mislead for it alters the way we think and relate with things around us.

The second reporter speaks about the Reality and Media Messages. According to him we cannot see the totality of reality on the media for it gives only the part of the reality but not the whole reality per se. Thus, it is a reminder for us to take control of mass media not the other way around.

MASS MEDIA SHAPE OUR UNDERSTANDING AND WAY OF RELATING WITH OTHERS.
As we experience the rapid change of technology, we cannot but be amazed and affected by it psychologically, morally, and spiritually. It is for the reason that media, take part and gradually shape our way of understanding and our way of living. It also affects our way of looking at what is real and what is profane. Media, as I understand it, is a means for us to communicate and make our relationships with others intact. It also makes our tasks easy and comfortable with what we are doing. However, it helps me to know the reality outside the world where I stay and interact with and little by little widen my understanding and perspective about life and the happenings around me.
Fortunately, as I read this article, I realized that mass media take part on the way I think and deal with the things that are happening around me. It also take part the way I decide and looking at it in a very critical level. I could say that it overpowers me to the extent that it controls me the way I do things.
Furthermore, as I continue to reflect and digest the text, one thing struck me most that is, along these revolutions of technology, the church is always and constantly reminding us to use these means of communication in accordance to the will of God, for our own advantages and personal growth. It also reminds me that these advancements can only be used properly if we try to discipline ourselves in the best way possible, precisely because the teachings and indications of the church will be invain if we will not discipline ourselves and continue to neglect our responsibilty to these modern means.
Whenever thre are abuses on mass media, I, however, appreciate the intervention of the church. As media take part in shaping the understanding of the human person, the church also shape the understanding with regard to what is wrong and what is right. Here, it is the responsibilty of church to always remind the people of their obligation to God and to their neighbors to love and extend his/her help to those who are in dire need. Moreover, the church gives the full understanding of the necessity of faith amidst of the technological revolutions. However, I am not telling that the mass media is wrong and the the church is always right, what I want to say here, is that, there are things and realities that the media cannot fully give to human race and that is, the full understanding of reality as well as the church with regard on this matters, so it is the reminder for all of us to use the media properly corresponding to the guidelines of the Church so that we will not be misled, but rather, to arrive at what God wants us to be
